The secure cyber city model we establish in San Diego will empower our citizens and serve as a beacon for cities across North America and the world.

Each of the workgroups are focused on specific objectives that drive towards the vision and mission statements of the coalition, with a primary focus on the mission to enable every San Diegan to live, work and play safely in the cyber world.

Public/Private Partnerships: co-chairs – Aimee Larsen-Kirkpatrick, NCSA; Bruce Roberts, Cubic Corporation
Abstract:. The Securing Our eCity Public/Private Partnership Workgroup is focused on facilitating interaction between the regional sectors, industry and government to support the SOeC mission.

Policy: co-chairs – Ruben Barrales, SD Regional Chamber of Commerce; Bill Riedy, The Security Network
Abstract:The Securing Our eCity Policy Workgroup is focused on city, state and federal cybersecuity policies. They work to understand the benefits to both business and individuals and to influence adoption for the benefit of the majority of San Diegans. They also work with local organizations to foster internal cybersecurity policies that protect businesses.

Security Metrics: co-chairs – Mike Davis, ISSA; Tom Byrnes, ThreatStop
Abstract:The Securing Our eCity Security Metrics Workgroup is focused on measuring the overall success of the SOeC initiative and working closely with each of the other workgroups on their measurements of defined success.

Awareness: co-chairs – Sheryl Bilbrey, Better Business Bureau; Liz Fraumann, ESET, LLC
Abstract: The Securing Our eCity Awareness Workgroup is focused on increased visibility of cybersecurity. The will foster a unified message so that all citizens will have a basic understanding of the issues which surround cybersecurity and have knowledge of correct actions to take when they are in cyberspace.

Education: co-chairs – Brendan McHugh, C.A.T.C.H. Team; Liz Fraumann, ESET, LLC
Abstract: The focus of the Securing Our eCity Education Workgroup is to foster general and curriculum-based learning for all digital citizens. This includes the general public (individuals and organizations), formal schools (K-12, university, adult continuing ed) and seniors.

Law Enforcement: co-chairs – Jeff Debrosse, ESET, LLC; OPEN
Abstract: The Securing Our eCity Law Enforcement Workgroup is focused cybercrime prevention through awareness and to provide a guide for organization’s “first responders” if an incident occurs.

Critical Infrastructure: co-chairs – Alan Watkins, City of San Diego; Chris Vera, Sempra Energy
Abstract: The Securing Our eCity Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Workgroup is focused on working with the nineteen industry segments that make up San Diego’s critical infrastructure elements and helping to ensure they are cyber secure.

Cluster: co-chairs – Michael Jones, The Security Network; OPEN
Abstract: The Securing Our eCity Cluster Workgroup is focused on the analysis and recommendations for building a cybersecurity business cluster in San Diego.
